Rudra’s Secret Treasure
Ok, now I know AGTP just recently released their own patch,
which fully translates the game, but really I just want to say how disappointed
I am about a couple points. They are:
1.
No one told me work was actually being done on another patch
2.
I had completed most of the hacking a year ago and was just
waiting for a stupid script to be translated this whole time. So really I wasted my time with all the
hacking it seems.
3.
I even told Gideon Zhi that I had completed most of the hacking
and was just waiting for a script.
4.
My translators gave up and deleted the script.
5.
The hacking that went into Gideon Zhi’s patch is not even done
to the professional level that mine was.
Just read the introduction. It
is crappy. Mind you on the otherhand I
am still impressed with what they have been able to do.
So essentially I am releasing my patch to show you the
difference in quality between the two patches.
Now don’t expect this to be perfect since I have pretty much not done
any work on this in a year, all I did was take AGTP’s script and insert it into
my hacked rom. What I would like to do
is get together with Gideon Zhi and release a high quality translation by
combining my hacks and his script, but I doubt it will happen… we shall see!
Download
the J2e patch here! Apply it to a clean Japanese rom for Rudra (Note:
Savegames from the Japanese version or from AGTP’s version may not be
compatible with the J2e version. Just
start from the beginning!)
A few of the differences between patches are (not all are listed
here):
J2e’s patch
-
A properly hacked and translated introduction
-
Variable width font for the main text and other text as well
(such as place names and battle text…)
-
Multi-line descriptions at the bottom of the menu screens
-
Multi-line item names in menus
-
Care was taken when translating and formatting menu screens to
fit everything in
AGTP’s patch
-
Shitty Introduction (no offence – I just would have liked to
have seen a top quality patch)
-
No variable width font (it doesn’t look nice)
-
Single line item descriptions at the bottom of the menu screens
-
Single-line item names in menus
-
In some menu screens care was not taken and words are short-form
and doesn’t look as nice
Here are some
screenshots showing the differences
